Nate Merli (vocals and guitar), Christopher Cool (bass and yes, that’s his real name), and Taco Cooper (drums) first plugged in their parent’s garage five years ago. It didn’t take long before they quit school in pursuit of becoming the biggest and loudest rock band of their generation.
This South Carolina-bred trio may be known for their dark, nostalgic pop tunes, but their compelling image and onstage persona is in-your-face rock and roll.
Cage The Elephant released a haunting and beautiful video today for “Cigarette Daydreams,” one of the most beloved songs on their new album, Melophobia. Acclaimed director Mark Pellington worked closely with Matt Shultz on the project, and together they created a moving portrait of the song’s true meaning featuring a very special guest. Mark Pellington is best known for his work with the likes of Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, U2 and acclaimed films, including Arlington Road and The Mothman Prophecies.
