Smile Case-Lose Our Head
Smile Case new full length album is alternative acoustic rock at its best. Lose Your Heads is an exact example of what real creative alternative music is all about. Smile Case is a 2000’s version of the 70’s creative alternative music.
Having Self Financed the album the final product is a little rough around the edges, you have to turn the volume up a little bit to catch most of the background and lead vocal sounds that play throughout the album. Lost Your Heads subsist with twelve tracks, among the twelve tracks around half of the tracks lasts under two minutes, with the longest song on the album lasting four minutes and twenty seconds. Throughout the album there are movie out cuts that dawn a couple of the tracks. The instrumental parts throughout the album are interesting as well, the guitars for the most part are passable, but for some reason they are not played throughout the duration of the tracks. The guitars usually stop playing just after starting or in the middle of the songs. The songs could diffidently have benefited if the instruments were played throughout the entire duration of the songs instead of stopping or quieting down and then having the sound effects take over for the songs. One of the interesting aspects of the album is the background sounds that are played throughout the album, they add an interesting characteristics to the songs and seem to the songs into a different direction that one is led to believe at the start of the songs. Some of the sounds seem to blend in with the songs and add that extra little bit to the songs, then there is a few sounds that don’t really need to be there which then leads you to wondering why they were placed into the song in the first place. This is an album where it would be interesting to see the album played live, and to see how much of the songs were created in the mixing stage, and how much of the song could be played live.
